Hello everyone in Juvenile 3,

This is Sharon speaking to you from Boston. I’m not teaching school this morning so I thought that I would send you a message.

As usual Holling is sleeping by my feet on his bed in the computer room. We went for a long walk early this morning. When we came home Holling asked for some dog biscuits. I usually give Holling a snack when we come back from a walk. So today Holling had dog biscuits and yogurt. Holling always loves to eat yogurt.

We want to thank you very much for sharing the photos of your pets. They are all handsome and beautiful dogs. Do you know the difference between handsome and beautiful? The boys are handsome and the girls are beautiful.

It’s almost nine o’clock. I need to do some tasks here at home before I leave for school later this morning.

My pet is a Golden Retriever.
Her name is Mel.
Mel takes a bath every week.
Mel is never dangerous.
She eats dog food twice a day.
Mel sometimes drinks water.
Mel plays soccer every Sunday.

He always sleeps in his house because he loves pillows and there are a lot of pillows in his dog house.

She hardly ever eats dog food.
She is always very brave.

Sharon's dog is Holling. He is 11 years old and he is a German Shepherd. Holling had a very difficult life and he was picked up off the streets, but now he has been living with Sharon and her husband since early December. They are his foster parents!

Fostering animals is very common in the United States!
People who are part of a foster care program take care of animals until a permanent home is found for that animal; until that animal is “legally adopted.”

When Holling was found, he was sick and exhausted. Holling is deaf and can't see very well. He can distinguish large objects (like his big blue ball) but can't see a tennis ball. Pople didn’t take good care of him when he was a puppy. Fortunately, there are good people in this world like our friend Sharon who volunteered to be his mom. Now Holling has a warm house and lovely foster parents.

Holling is waiting to be adopted! Maybe he could come to Brazil!
